Having a workspace that is clean, free of clutter and simply organized is essential to having a clear mind. Each day I make sure that I remove all clutter from my desk, along with wiping it down with a soft microfiber cloth and a little homemade cleaner. This makes the next day feel like a fresh start and allows you to become productive with a clean slate of the mind as well.

In addition to the general wipe down and decluttering, I also use a separate microfiber cloth to wipe down my mouse, keyboard, laptop, and monitor screen each week with a solution of 70% rubbing alcohol.

Once a month I will review any paperwork that could be converted to digital, such as receipts for business purchases, letters and statements that I receive in the mail, and other items that I would like to keep on hand, but prefer to shred the physical copy. This process can be a bit time consuming at first, but definitely has a faster and more organized retrieval process once you've finished, and starting new folders each month only takes a few minutes.

Do I keep personal items on my desk? Yes. A few plants and a wooden cat siting like Buddha to remind me to take a break. Everything else is kept in drawers in a cabinet under my desk along with my air purifier.

So keep you workspace area clean and clutter free. It's good for your health and mental health as well.
