Sleep Hygiene: Your Business and Your Health Matters

We don’t get enough sleep anymore, and it’s making us lose focus.

Running a business or creating a new business is hard work. So when you don't get enough sleep, not only do you feel it, so does your business.

As a one person company, I am the only one I can count on to make sure my business is up and running the way I want it to and ensure that my clients are all happy with my products and service. On a weekly basis, I am organizing my days based on creating and editing my tutorial YouTube videos, writing blogs, making wire wrapped jewelry and eco-friendly premium candles, managing sales and filing taxes, uploading pictures of my products to my website, planning out weekend pop-up events, and shipping out orders almost daily.

What would happen if I neglected my sleep or what if I had a not-so-great night's sleep? I end up with brain fog that could last all day and easily throw me off my game - or at worse, even fall asleep at my desk (yes, this has happened).

So it is imperative that I have a regular sleeping schedule of an absolute minimum of 6 hours, even on the weekends when I have pop up events scheduled, to maintain my own business standards. How do I do this? I own a smart watch and I use the sleep schedule feature (available on Apple and Android devices) that is included with the watch - some people use a third party app, and that's ok too if it better fits your needs.

If the feature is available to you, use it and enjoy better and regular sleep. If not, then commit to winding down at a set time every night and go to sleep at the same time each night. Trust me, your body and business will thank you for it in the long run.
